Ipswich Town attacker Omari Hutchinson missed out on featuring during the international break after picking up a knock, according to England Under-21s manager Ben Futcher.

The former Chelsea man was first called up by the Young Lions back in September, but he had to withdraw from the squad after picking up a minor hamstring injury. He made his debut at the level in October, bagging a goal and two assists in his second cap appearance against Azerbaijan.

As a result, he was called up by Futcher again this month, but wasn't in the matchday squad when they played Spain and the Netherlands. It's since been revealed that, although he travelled to Cadiz for the first match, he wasn't risked and subsequently returned to England on Saturday following regular communication with Ipswich.

"I don’t believe anything concerning [for Ipswich]," the U21s boss said after tonight's 1-1 draw against the Netherlands.

"He was out for all the camp with us and he was at the Spain game. He just got a knock in the game before we travelled and we just didn’t want to take any chances.

"We’ve been in communication with Ipswich and I spoke to Omari. I just felt the best thing to do was go back. He wanted to stay a bit longer but we felt it was best he went back. So, Omari should be OK - hopefully.

"He went back on Saturday. He stayed for the Spain game then we felt it was best he went back to Ipswich."
