Leicester City manager Steve Cooper will miss Saturday's game against Ipswich Town after being given his third yellow card of the season in last night's Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester United.
The 44-year-old was booked during the Foxes' defeats to Aston Villa and Arsenal, meaning that he now has three to his name for the season and will serve a one-match touchline ban.
He was left furious after Alejandro Garnacho's 28th-minute strike, where team-mate Diogo Dalot looked to be offside in the build-up. However, with no VAR used in Carabao Cup games, the on-field decision wasn't changed.
As a result, Cooper will not be on the touchline against the Blues at Portman Road this weekend, returning to the dugout for their return to Old Trafford in the Premier League on November 10th.
When the ban was mentioned after the 5-2 defeat to the Red Devils, the Welshman said: “Cheers. Not to you, but to that. Maybe there’s a bit of sympathy for the linesman. He’s a Premier League linesman and he’s used to the protection of VAR. But he can’t make a mistake like that.
“It was a big moment in the game. We score soon after and it should be 1-1. It’s 2-1. The referee’s enjoyed giving me a yellow card as well. He looked like he had a good time tonight. That was that. But I want to stand up for my team. You can’t just see an image on the bench and just accept it.”
Leicester's assistant manager, Alan Tate, is expected to stand in for Cooper on the touchline this weekend.
