Former Ipswich Town midfielder has joined Blackpool on a two-year deal following the end of his short-term deal at Portsmouth.

The 29-year-old joins the Seasiders after making four appearances for Pompey as they won the League One title.

Evans signed for John Mousinho's side in March having left the Blues at the start of February after he had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

He now joins Neil Critchley, whose side narrowly missed out on a League One play-off spot by finishing eighth.

On signing for Blackpool, he said: "It's a really nice feeling, I'm delighted to be here and become a Blackpool player.

“It's an exciting challenge and speaking to Neil Critchley he sold that challenge to me of trying to get out of this league.

“With the club just missing out on the play-offs last season, it's had a chance to build and then kick on again this coming season, which I am proud to be a part of.”

He will link up with former Town players in Hayden Coulson, Matthew Pennington, Dominic Thompson and Jordan Rhodes at Bloomfield Road.

Last month, Richard Keogh was appointed a first-team coach at the third tier club after he announced his retirement from football this summer.

In total, Evans made 61 appearances for Town, scoring six goals during his spell at Portman Road, where he helped the Blues win promotion to the Championship in 2022/23.
