Understandably, Town fans have reacted with joy. Here's a taste of what they're saying on social media...
Best young manager in the country. Best signing we could possibly make this summer.

Ashton and the owners deserve a lot of credit for securing him.
Over the moon with this, wish my ol man was still with us to continue this amazing journey. Thank you Kieran for making this club great again. Now get down to business proper and get them new signings in early when the window opens.

McKenna is the most important person at this club right now. What he has created is beyond anything we had hoped for. Keeping him gives us a huge chance of competing in the top flight. Bring on next season!

Really good to hear them address the interest from other clubs in the TownTV interview. Could have given a politicians answer but his openess is one of the best things about him as a manager. Currently feeling like Harry Clarke here. pic.twitter.com/nCC7yhxbJQ

Over the moon! A manager with great presence and composure in the hardest moments. Never shying away from the pressure and able to get 110% out of every player on the pitch. Long live the King of Anglia 👑
— Dan Marsh (@danmarsh2810) May 30, 2024
Ecstatic. We have to savour and enjoy every moment we have with him leading us. He deserves this big money contract more than anyone

I fully believe there is not anyone else in world football who would have orchestrated the miraculous back to back promotions, Kieran has achieved
Super excited he's done the business, not just because our fairytale continues and we can look forward to the Prem again, but also because it restores my faith in human nature. I truly couldn't believe a gentleman like McKenna would leave us in the lurch, and now he's shown he…

Right decision for the club, right decision for McKenna’s brand at this stage of his managerial career. It’s not often you see loyalty in the modern game. Bring on the new season.
— Mark Jubb (@mark_jubb) May 30, 2024
Absolutely amazing news signing the summer.. I generally believe he’s the only manager that could keep us up in the Premier League, which will be a massive achievement if he and the team off
— shaun king (@benking13959760) May 30, 2024
Absolutely Thrilled Mark

The best signing we will make this year whatever happens.
Keiron is so good we will stay in the division with him here .
💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙
Delighted, he’s the best manager in the country. It’s been a horrible two weeks though in which his representatives have reportedly been sounding out other options, at best it’s a ploy to get him a better salary, at worst he was genuinely considering jumping ship 🤢
— Sam Williams (@Sammydwills) May 30, 2024
Just delighted McKenna has finally signed. Kudos to Ashton, Swartz & the whole board for getting the deal done. I couldn’t have contemplated a new man at the helm for the start of the new season. This is McKenna’s team & it will be added to enhance what we have. My overall ‘phew’
— Jon Tayler (@JonSuperIpswich) May 30, 2024
Brilliant news for the club, really sensible career move for McKenna, and a salary which shows we mean business #itfc
— North Stander (@North_Stander) May 30, 2024
i think this just trumps the time they brought the mcrib back for a limited period
— Brett (@itfcbrett) May 30, 2024
Incredible news!! Although I do believe he will only be with us a year and has basically signed this contract so we get decent compensation if he moves to another team at the end of the season.
— S.Drake (@stuey_drake) May 30, 2024
Delighted obviously, the bit we’ll never know is how close he came to walking. He held all the cards in this negotiation, especially if he did get a firm offer from Brighton, I suspect Man Utd and Chelsea didn’t make an offer. Kudos to Ashton, I hope he gets a well earned break!
— Andy Stiff (P) (@AndyisStiff) May 30, 2024
Brilliant news. Increases chances of attracting some top talent, gives stability and gives us the best chance of staying up. Uppa Towen.
— Ian Byrne (@Byrno2) May 30, 2024
Delighted is an understatement! Think as fans we need to listen to Ashton when he says 'Don't believe anything until you hear it from the club.' Yes its been 22 years & we're all buzzing but think he's built up enough trust over the last 2 years for us to believe him
— Andrew Strike (@arocknrollgeek) May 30, 2024
Best signing we have made in 20 years let alone this summer. Delighted he’s staying and now I’m much more confident of us staying up next season! COYB #itfc
— Craig (@CraigyCraigo23) May 30, 2024
Glad it's done but that deal at that length(to me) is a massive clue that the speculation had some serious weight to it and for us to keep McKenna in the midst of global footballing giants interest shows how far we have come in the last nearly 3 years
— Stu Chapman (@SlendyC) May 30, 2024
Really pleased he’s staying last week I was really worried if it’s just for a season to see what we can do here, then he can go with our blessing
— kevin (@kevin_hurst) May 30, 2024
To be honest I never thought for one bit that he would leave Mark. Loved by his superiors, players & fans, he’s got unfinished business in the Premiership!
— Gareth Westley (@GarethWestley) May 30, 2024
Relieved and delighted. Stability vital now we are back in Premier league. Mark Ashton and Ed Schwartz deserve a lot of credit
— michael bracken (@michael_bracken) May 30, 2024
NOW WE’RE CUGGEN! Some nervous days, sleepless nights and serious head loss from the Town Twitteratti! Never in doubt was it? Was it?!
— Liam Hannan (@iamliamh) May 30, 2024
Top 10 finish incoming. UPPA TOWEN!
Absolutely delighted! The contract dance was always going to be frustrating but it was expected. This is such a good fit for both all it has to happen!
— Chris Long (@ZippyLong72) May 30, 2024
Massive signing! In context I was trying to stay positive given what Aston said but it’s hard to drown the noise out. But it’s done and here to stay! Let’s push on
— Jono White (@Jono24white) May 30, 2024
Best signing we could make would of hated to see him go. Would of meant had yo start again with his methods embedded into the players for 2 and half years.
— Matt Casburn (@MatthewCasburn) May 30, 2024
Amazing news. He gets an extra 15-20% out of the players and is an excellent coach to the younger lads. We know he won’t stay forever and that’s fine, but right now the club is on a big project and we need him to lead that.
