Ipswich Town finished their season with a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood this afternoon. Andy Warren hands out his player ratings.
Christian Walton
Town’s captain for the day saved well, early, from Phoenix Patterson having managed to wrap up the Golden Glove before kick-off, given rival James Trafford didn’t play for Bolton at Bristol Rovers. Was beaten twice but made some other important saves. 7
Janoi Donacien
In for Harry Clarke, the right-back got away with a slack back pass early on and had a few other tricky moments in the early minutes, before settling into his groove. Was on hand to try and cut out what became the Fleetwood equaliser, but couldn’t manage it. 6
Luke Woolfenden
The Blues won’t be happy to have conceded twice this afternoon, and with the nature of the goals, but the two centre-halves did have some good moments throughout the contest. 6
Cameron Burgess
Burgess and Woolfenden have been such a huge part of Ipswich’s surge to success and, while this wasn’t a vintage afternoon for the pair, they both did well enough. Town’s No.15 took a big bang before the break but was able to carry on. 7
Leif Davis
Town looked to use Davis in an attacking sense whenever they could, working balls wide and down the line to try and create opportunities to cross. It worked on some occasions and not on others. 7
Dominic Ball
Was Ipswich’s best player during the opening stages and continued to have a positive influence on the game, even if the Blues missed the presence of skipper Sam Morsy in the middle of midfield. 7
Massimo Luongo
Another solid display from a midfielder who has brought so much to this Ipswich side since coming into the team in March. His contract expires soon – it remains to be seen what is done there. 7
Wes Burns
The Welshman, back at his former club, showed some good touches and had dangerous moments down the right side of the Fleetwood defence, using his pace to open things up. 7
Conor Chaplin
The attacker had a few chances to add to his goal tally but ultimately ends a brilliant campaign on 29. He fired wide early and had a string of chances blocked throughout the game, while also seeing Jay Lynch claw a spectacular effort out of the top corner. He finishes in a share of the League One Golden Boot race alongside Jonson Clarke-Harris of Peterborough.7
Nathan Broadhead
The attacker tried to create whenever he could as he come in from the left side, showing some decent touches but not being able to come up with the magic we’ve become used to. Fired one vicious shot over the top of the bar. What a signing he has proved to be. 6
George Hirst
The striker’s afternoon didn’t last long, with the Leicester loanee limping off after a little more than 15 minutes with what looked like an ankle problem. 6
Freddie Ladapo (for Hirst, 18)
The striker made it onto the pitch early and had two first-half efforts, one with head and one on the volley, before finding the net in the second half. His goal showcased the power and strength which has made him such a vital component of this side. 7
Harry Clarke (for Donacien, 65)
The defender’s season ends with a red card, thanks to two late bookings. The first was certainly debatable, the second wasn’t. 5
Marcus Harness (for Broadhead, 65)
Town’s No.11 scored the final goal of the season, finishing nicely after picking up on Chaplin’s rebounded shot. He made a positive contribution after coming on. 7
Kyle Edwards (for Davis, 81)
Had a few decent moments to finish the season, after coming on late. n/a
Kayden Jackson (for Burns, 81)
On for the final few minutes of Ipswich’s time in League One, having been there throughout. n/a
