Suffolk New College marked 56 years of land-based learning in style at this year’s Suffolk Show – with everything from sheep showing to skip gardening on display.

Inclusive learners turned heads by transforming a disused skip into a sustainable garden, channelling Chelsea Flower Show flair with an eco-friendly twist.

Meanwhile, two members of the farming team took to the livestock rings with their sheep, while catering students whipped up a three-course meal from scratch in just 15 minutes inside the food tent.

They will now take those dishes to Sheffield later this year for a national Restaurant Team of the Year competition.

Floristry learners created a show-stopping garden, equine students helped build show-jumping courses, and visitors to the college marquee could explore courses ranging from animal studies to tree surgery.

A “tree of hope” invited visitors to leave wishes, including one simple message: “I hope for a better world”.

Event supervisor Charlotte Rossiter said: “The show is in our veins as it gives us a chance to celebrate our ongoing agricultural and land-based heritage.

"It’s always such a pleasure to be involved in this annual celebration of everything that is good in relation to this wonderful county of ours.”

And while George the mascot narrowly missed a third consecutive win, finishing second, spirits remained high.
