An Ipswich man has been jailed after a cannabis grow worth up to £80,000 was discovered in Hadleigh.

Police attended an address in Ann Beaumont Way in Hadleigh on August 19 after concerns had been expressed over suspicious behaviour. 

Officers then entered the address and searched the property.

Jani Murati, 37, from Ipswich, was then spotted climbing a ladder to access the loft space where two cannabis growing areas were discovered, Suffolk police said.

A search of the address also found that a further three of the upstairs rooms had been converted for the production of cannabis.

A total of 158 cannabis plants were found at different stages of growth, as well as a large sum of cash and a mobile phone.

Officers estimate that between 4.4kg and 13.2kg of cannabis was produced by the farm, with a potential value of between £17,000 and £80,000.

Police believe that the site was a long-term harvesting enterprise. 

Murati was arrested for the production of cannabis and appeared at Suffolk Magistrates' Court on August 20, where he pleaded guilty.

He was jailed for 10 months at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday, November 25.

Court orders were also made for the destruction of the cannabis and the confiscation of £538 in cash, the mobile phone and cannabis cultivation equipment.
