A church in Ipswich has opened its doors once again to host the biggest Christmas tree festival in the town - featuring more than 100 trees.

St Mary le Tower, which will be redesignated Ipswich Minster in 2025, is hosting its Trees at the Tower festival once again.

More than 100 artificial and real trees have been placed on display in and around the church, all being donated and decorated by different organisations, businesses and charities in the town and the county.

Trees are decorated in various themes including one based on Canada, a Remembrance tree and The Snowman.

The Reverend Tom Mumford said: "We are so excited to throw open our doors for this occasion again, and this time for the longest festival in our more than decade long history.

"As the civic church for Ipswich, honoured to become Ipswich Minster in 2025, we are particularly delighted to offer Christmas tree sponsors and visitors alike warm hospitality, allowing everyone to escape the cold and explore this beautiful church which belongs to you all.

"One of the wonderful things about Christmas trees is the way in which they light up spaces and fill us all with childlike awe and wonder."

Also in the church during the festival is a café serving hot drinks and cakes, free children's activities and a nativity scene in front of the high alter.

This year the money raised from the tree festival will be split between the mayor of Ipswich's charities and the church.

The event is free to attend and will be open until Sunday, December 8.
