Dozens of chaplains gathered in Ipswich to celebrate their work across Suffolk.
The event, held on Tuesday at the St Nicholas Centre in Ipswich, was organised by the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.
It aimed to highlight the significant impact chaplains have in various sectors across the county.
Archdeacon Rich Henderson said: The work of chaplains touches all areas of Suffolk life – from prisons, police and the military to healthcare, education, farming and much, much more.
“It has been incredible to hear some of the stories, the experiences of those who do this important work every day, touching the lives of thousands with kindness, care and support.”
Four speakers shared their experiences of working as chaplains and how they assist people of "all faiths and beliefs."
Revd Wendy Norris, managing chaplain at HMP Highpoint in Stradishall, said: “We provide pastoral care, family and bereavement ministry, family liaison and much more.
“It’s about bringing joy into prison.”
Revd Linda Pepper, lead chaplain at Suffolk New College and the University of Suffolk, spoke about the international café she helped set up at the university.
She said: “Many of them just want someone who is able to give them some advice, to listen to their struggles and be able to be open about it."
Revd Linda Peall, head of chaplaincy at East Suffolk and North Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, discussed the increased need for chaplaincy support during the Covid pandemic.
She said: “We act as a space to help people navigate the worries of life.”
The Church of England in Suffolk oversees about 50 chaplains working across various sectors, including education, healthcare, the RAF, the army, youth groups, agriculture and more.
