A Grade II-listed outbuilding currently used as a garage could become a two-bedroom flat.
Ipswich Borough Council has received proposals which would see the car parking and amenities area at 167 Norwich Road converted into a two-bedroom dwelling.
Currently the existing garage is used for storage only by the owner of the building and the courtyard area is used for getting in and out of the flats.
Under the terms of the lease the courtyard cannot be used by residents in respect of parking and can only be used for the as an outdoor space and for bin storage.
The plans would see the outer walls retained but the inside of the outbuilding converted into a sing storey building with two bedrooms, a kitchen/diner area, lounge and bathroom.
The outer walls of the garage are considered a part of 167 Norwich Road which is Grade II-listed, as is the terracing of the street, stretching back to 139 Norwich Road.
An expiry date for consultations of local residents has been set for Tuesday, December 17, and can be made in person or through the council website.
