Two roads in villages near Ipswich have installed speed indicator devices (SIDs) to capture data on average speed and monitor drivers' behaviour.
Residents of Copdock and Washbrook would have noticed that SIDs in The Street and Chapel Lane are now operational.
The villages' parish council hopes this will help it and its community speed watch group capture useful data about average speed on those lanes and look into the behaviour of motorists.
The SIDs will show drivers the speed of their vehicles in a bid to help them limit it and hope that Suffolk Highways and the police will be able to address concerns raised by the speeds swiftly.
This was made possible by Suffolk county councillor Christopher Hudson helping to fund the initiative.
Additionally, the villages' speed watch team will now shift their focus onto Back Lane and Elm Lane, where the parish council wanted to add a device but it did not meet the county's visibility criteria.
The parish council will also be making a formal application to reduce speed on Elm Lane, Back Lane and The Street down to 20mph.
This has been further exacerbated by a recent crash in Elm Lane involving a car and a cyclist.
