Six homes could be built on land owned by a health club and spa under new plans.

Clarice Leisure Limited has lodged proposals with Mid Suffolk District Council for houses on part of Riverhills Health Club and Spa in Bramford, just outside of Ipswich.

It follows a previous application for 10 homes on the site which was granted under the former owner.

A planning statement said the current owner "would like to revise the application to provide fewer houses overall on the site".

"This will allow the company to develop proposals for the remainder of the site previously identified for housing, to provide an enhanced leisure offer which will form the basis of a separate planning application in due course," it said.

Access to the homes would be created through a road to the north of the site, separating it from the route into the leisure facility.

Part of the site is currently vacant, while a portion of it is occupied by former tennis courts.

The application is expected to be determined by Thursday, January 16, 2025.

The Riverhills spa was the scene of a huge fire last summer which caused major damage to the site.
