An opening date for a sports shop taking over the former BHS building has been announced - and there's not long to wait.
Sports Direct will open its new premises in the Butter Market premises on Friday, November 29.
The sports and lifestyle chain has been operating from the old H&M building on a temporary basis since its Carr Street store closed.
Joining Sports Direct will be three other Frasers Group brands.
A spokesperson for the Frasers Group said: "We are pleased to be opening a new, elevated 25,000 sq. ft Sports Direct store, located in Ipswich’s Butter Market.
"The store will provide customers with access to the world’s best sports and lifestyle brands, as well as bring other brands from Frasers Group’s ecosystem including USC, Evans Cycles and GAME to the location."
The new store will be spread across two floors, with the ground floor having Sports Direct and USC, which will have its own entrance, and on the first floor, there will be more of the sports shop along with GAME and Evans Cycles.
The move is long awaited, with Frasers Group taking over the former BHS building in 2020 with plans to move their brands there.
BHS closed in 2016 and has been vacant since.
Only in March this year it was revealed they were going to move in after plans were submitted.
Already opened, next door to the new Sports Direct shop, is Flannels, another of the Frasers Group brands.
Work began on the entire building in July and has been ongoing for the last four months, with Flannels opening on October 31.
