An Ipswich drug dealer who was arrested after he showed police a fake driving licence has been jailed for 30 months.
Officers stopped a black Ford Focus driven by 28-year-old Fabio Arifaj in Landseer Road, Ipswich, on September 2 and during a search they found two grip seal bags containing cocaine in black socks hidden in the lining of the front passenger seat and £1,160 in cash, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Arifaj also produced a fake Italian driving licence, said Callum Munday, prosecuting.
Officers seized a mobile phone and on it they found a picture of an Albanian driving licence in Arifaj’s real name.
When officers went to his home in Freehold Road they found a further £2,000 cash and a fake Slovakian identity document.
Arifaj, of Freehold Road, admitted two offences of possessing false identity documents, possessing criminal property and being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
The court heard that Arifaj was brought to the UK and told to deliver drugs after taking out a loan in Albania to pay his mother’s medical bills.
He was given drugs and told where to deliver them and after handing over the money he was paid for the drugs he would be given more drugs to deliver.
Sentencing him, Judge David Wilson said he would serve 40% of his sentence under the government's early release scheme and be liable to be deported subject to a decision by the Home Office.
