A lorry has caused damage to home after it crashed into it while following a diversion route for the A14 closure near Ipswich.

Police were called to High Street in Sproughton at about 2.30am on Thursday following reports that a lorry had crashed into a house.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said the crash caused minor damage to the home.

The A14 is closed westbound from junction 52, near Claydon, to junction 55, near Copdock, for urgent repair works

National Highways was asked to reopen the A14 at about 2.30am to alleviate the traffic issues caused by the crash in Sproughton.

High Street was fully reopened by 3.45am, Suffolk police confirmed.

Last month a lorry was forced to reverse down Paper Mill Lane in Bramford while maintenance work was being carried out on the A14.

National Highways has since confirmed that Paper Mill Lane will be closed to traffic when full closures are required on the eastbound carriageway of the A14.

A spokesperson for National Highways said it will be open for access only, not as a through route.

The closure comes following feedback from people living in the village.
