A shopping centre in Ipswich has kicked off its festive season with a rise in footfall compared to last year.
Buttermarket Shopping Centre launched its Christmas celebration on November 17 with the Elf academy workshop and the return of the retro pop-up event.
The opening event drew a large crowd with the centre recording a 21% increase in footfall compared to the same time last year.
The footfall was also 3.3% higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Rebecca Bird, centre manager at the Buttermarket, said: "It was wonderful to see so many families and friends coming together to kick off the festive season with us.
"The atmosphere was truly magical and we're thrilled with the fantastic turnout for the Elf Academy and Retro-pup up events.
"We can't wait to continue spreading holiday cheer throughout December with more exciting free events."
The centre will host free events every weekend in December in the run up to Christmas, with Santa's Present Pursuit on December 7, and interactive treasure hunt, and the Christmas Snow Globe on December 15.
Buttermarket is also collecting donations for St Elizabeth Hospice at all its events.
