Sports Direct have confirmed it is looking to open its new Ipswich store by the end of the month.
The sports and lifestyle store had been temporarily trading from the former H&M on Tavern Street before the long awaited move to the BHS site in Buttermarket.
This comes as Flannels, another brand under the Frasers Group, opened at the start of the month.
five brands under the Frasers Group would open in the former BHS store, which was one of the flagship stores of the retail giant before it closed in 2016.
It was announced thatThe Frasers Group is owned by former Newcastle United owner, Mike Ashley.
A spokesperson for the Frasers Group confirmed the new store opening would "be the end of this month".
They added: “We are pleased to be opening a new, elevated 25,000 sq. ft Sports Direct store, located in Ipswich’s Butter Market.
The store will provide customers with access to the world’s best sports and lifestyle brands, as well as bring other brands from Frasers Group’s ecosystem including USC, Evans Cycles and GAME to the location.”
Sports Direct vacated its Carr Street location and moved its remaining products to the Tavern Street venue ahead of opening in Buttermarket.
The former BHS store was acquired by the Fraser Group in 2020 with the plans to move in announced shortly after.
No date was given for the opening of the three remaining shops, but the hopes are that GAME, USC and Evans Cycles are still set to open in the former clothes shop later this year.
