An Ipswich man who stole legs of ham and pork ribs has been ordered to pay compensation to a retailer.
Lee McLaughlin, of Defoe Road in Ipswich, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on October 10.
The 44-year-old was facing two counts of theft from a shop.
According to court documents, on April 16, he stole pork spare ribs and a packet of starburst from Farmfoods, valued at £11.18.
Two weeks later on April 30, he visited Farmfoods once again, this time stealing he stole two legs of ham worth £29.98.
McLaughlin pleaded guilty to both charges, and was ordered to pay back compensation for his thefts. He was also fined £40 and told to pay a surcharge of £32, which goes towards victims’ services.
This brings the total amount McLaughlin will have to pay to £113.16, the court documents said.
