A public meeting in protest to a new quarry in Westerfield will be held later this month.

Stop the Quarry is inviting people to attend the event on Wednesday, November 27 at Witnesham Village Hall at 7pm.

Plans for the quarry were submitted to Suffolk County Council earlier in the year and faced 348 written objections from local residents, who are worried about traffic issues, noise and dust pollution as well as environmental impact.

Parish councillors were joined by County Councillor, Elaine Bryce and Central Suffolk and North (Image: Elaine Bryce) Stop the Quarry held a private meeting on Thursday, October 24.

The campaign was started by members of the nearby Parish councils, including Westerfield, Tuddenham St Martin and Swiland & Witnesham.

The councils are supported in their efforts by Suffolk County Councillor Elaine Bryce and MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, Patrick Spencer.

East Suffolk Council District Councillor Colin Hedgley also attended the meeting and backed the group in their efforts and representatives from other councils are expected to join future meetings.
