Ipswich Borough Council is searching for a new tenant for a building in a town park which was recently used as a bakery.

The former bowls club in Chantry Park was previously operated for three years by Sweet William's bakery until its tenant, Zoe Hayman-Cox, moved her business to Dickens Road in September.

Mrs Hayman-Cox says she did not intend to leave and was in the process of negotiating the renewal of her lease but communication broke down with Ipswich Borough Council.

The council says the site could be used for a number of purposes, including a new café or another similar business.

The building, which is a total of 883 sq ft, comprises of a customer seating area, a small kitchen and toilets.

The lease also includes the use of the 27,302 sq ft grassed area outside the building.

Its kitchen is fitted with a shuttered window which has the potential to be used as a service counter.

Anyone interested in the opportunity should contact the council at property.services@ipswich.gov.uk.
