A bistro and café in Ipswich has announced it has closed with immediate effect after a number of years due to a "significant drop in foot traffic."

Salt N Pepper in Tacket Street announced the news that it was closing at the end of October.

On Thursday, the windows were boarded up with white paper and signs in the window sharing the news of their closure with customers.

The café and bistro has been based there for the last seven years, and has been operating under a number of managers.

In the notice, it states: "We are sad to announce that our café will be closing at the end of this month (October 31).

"Due to a significant drop in foot traffic in the town, rising utility bills and the increasing cost of living have made it difficult for us to keep operating.

"Additionally, the influx of new cafes and restaurants in the town has impacted our business significantly.

"We are incredibly thankful for your loyalty and support over the seven years.

"Serving this community has been a true joy and we will always cherish the connections we've made.

"Thank you for being a part of our journey."
