A police cordon was put in place in Ipswich town centre while officers investigated an "alleged incident".
The alleyway off of Tavern Street was blocked off for a time on Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "A police cordon was briefly put in place on Tuesday while officers investigated an alleged incident which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning."
A forensic van was also spotted nearby while the police cordon was in place.
Enquiries are still ongoing.
