The coastguard helicopter was called to Ipswich during the early hours of the morning.
It was seen circling the town close to the River Orwell and Orwell Park at about 1am on Monday (October 28).
A spokesman for the coastguard said they were called to reports of a concerns for welfare at about 12.25am.
By 2.30am emergency services had been stood down.
