An Ipswich father of two says he is "disgusted" and "appalled" by recent fly-tipping in his area.

On Friday, Carlos Methven noticed that a mattress had been dumped down his alley on Hartley Street in Ipswich.

Mr Methven says the mattress was blocking his alleyway and was leaving him unable to take his bins out and access the rear of the house.

The 44-year-old father of two said: "It's disgusting. This isn't the first time we've seen things like this. There are rubbish bags in every corner and littering is a common practice in this area.

"I think it's the local residents that do it and, in fact, I've seen them doing it. It's an absolute disgrace and I'm fed up with it."

This comes after rubbish, sofas and mattresses were recently spotted in a garden in Gibbons Street.

"Where waste is being dumped onto private property by a third party and evidence has been gathered, the Council will investigate it further."
