A bakery is set to return to the streets of Ipswich with a new store expected to open before the end of the year.
Rachel Halls has been running BMC Cakery since 2017 and has owned many stores in the town.
Her first shop was located in Woodbridge Road with a second opening soon after in Clapgate Lane.
"When we first opened we had queues out the door," said Ms Halls.
"I was at the beginning of the new era of modern baking."
Following the multiple Covid-19 lockdowns, BMC Cakery downsized and closed the shops as Ms Halls was expecting her son.
During that time, Ms Halls converted an old ice cream van to deliver cakes and other sweet treats across the county.
On some days BMC Cakery had nearly 300 deliveries to complete which helped the business to expand and make its long-awaited return to the high street.
The van now operates at events and private hire as well as offering a lunch round for offices in Ipswich and Felixstowe on Wednesday through Friday.
Why town is an up and coming hotspot for foodies
READ MORE:"I missed being shop based," continued the bakery owner.
"A unit became available in Queen's Way and it was an opportunity I just could not miss.
"When I announced that I was opening the new shop I was overwhelmed by all the support from locals and the other independent businesses in the area.
"I'm looking forward to being part of a long-established, friendly community."
Renovation work is ongoing at the Queen's Way store and will feature the signage and other equipment once used in previous locations.
Ms Halls hopes the bakery will be opened around the first or second week of November.
The savings BMC Cakery has made will be passed on to customers through deals on sweet treats to help keep the store affordable.
Customers will also be able to pre-order baked goods and celebration cakes at www.bmccakery.com.
