Ipswich School has submitted plans to convert a former office into 11 self-contained dwellings.
With the help of agents Boyer Planning an application was sent to Ipswich Borough Council seeking permission to convert the Henley Road office.
Ivry House was last used as a child adolescent psychiatry office, in addition to several other companies.
As part of the school's plans it is looking to create 11 dwellings that are all self-contained with their own kitchen, bathroom, and toilet.
The site is right by the school, with Ivry Street separating the two, and is close to Christchurch Park.
The school is a private boarding school set up in 1883 that educates students from pre-nursery to sixth form.
Its main building and adjoining chapel are Grade II listed and the school has several accommodations for its students on Ivry Street.
The school has many notable alumni, including 2024 Wimbledon doubles winner Henry Patten, as well as current F1 driver Alex Albon, who studied at the school till 2006.
