An Ipswich strongman is preparing to compete at the World Championships in December after a successful year.
Jake Allen, 33, is currently Europe's strongest man under 90kg after winning a competition in August.
He is following in the steps of his dad who was also a strongman competitor and took part in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
While MMA was not for the 33-year-old he decided that he would lift weights instead.
He said: "It takes a lot of training to make any progress with it but it's just one of the things that I have done consistently and this year it has started to pay off."
Before competing at the European Championships in August, Mr Allen said he took a few years off, and had to start training again and working his way up to be able to compete in the tournament.
Most recently, Mr Allen was in the United States of America to compete in the pro strongman league.
This is a tournament across six different disciplines to determine a winner.
Mr Allen finished second by just two points after a tight battle against former World Champion Tyler Davies.
His next event is set for OSG World Championships, in Wisconsin in America in December.
He said: "I'm going to have a week off training and then I will be preparing for that.
"I think with everything that has happened this year and how it has gone, I am in a good position to go out there and be in a position to challenge for the title.
"I am enjoying the progress I am making every day. It took me a long time to get here, but if you're consistent enough and you want it, then your time will come."
