With a number of new restaurants opening alongside proposals for a food hall serving cuisine from around the world, it's clear that Ipswich is fast becoming a destination for food lovers. 

While many regard the offerings in Bury St Edmunds, Long Melford and Felixstowe among the best for diners in the county, recent additions to Ipswich show the town is also making its mark. 

Recently there have been plans for new restaurants in the town including Los Bryant's Coffee & You. 

The Carr Street unit serving Filipino cuisine replaced the former Subway and I Love Noodles, and opened its doors after a three week refurbishment

Nearby in Dogs Head Street, signs have appeared advertising a new Middle Eastern restaurant called Daily Shawarma. 

Although an opening date has not yet been announced, inside there will be eight tables which can seat up to 24 customers. 

Worldwide chains are also opening new outlets in Ipswich with the first of two planned Taco Bell takeaways opening on Tuesday, October 22. 

Other upcoming ventures in Ipswich include plans to convert the former Yates pub into Tower Street Foodhall

Following a £2million refurbishment the establishment opposite Tower Ramparts Bus Station will have a range of food stalls, two bars and a kids play area.

The food counters will serve cuisines including Italian, Indian, Japanese and American.

As well as the new food offerings, Ipswich is also home to many hit and award-winning restaurants. 

Eastern Spice took home the title of East Anglian Takeaway of the Year at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2024. 

Bistro on the Quay and Tongs have both been named as finalists in the Food Awards England while Jus Winging It at The Lattice Barn also recently won Best Buffalo Wing at Wingfest in Bristol for its Buffalo Soldier wing.
