Signs have gone up outside a building in Ipswich town centre for a new restaurant which looks to serve Middle Eastern food.

Daily Shawarma is set to open in the former Lewis Hair salon in Dogs Head Street in Ipswich.

The premises, located on the corner of Dogs Head Street and Lower Brook Street, has been empty since the salon moved out in February after 20 years in the building.

A planning application, which was submitted earlier in the year and approved, showed that there will be eight tables with seating for 24 people.

Five people are set to be employed, with three full-time staff and four part-time staff.

A window towards the back of the premises is also set to be replaced with a fire escape door for the kitchen staff.

The restaurant is still undergoing work, with white sheet up in the window, and an opening date is yet to be announced.
