Taco Bell to 'bring new life' to Ravenswood in Ipswich

Ruman Muhith, who represents the Priory Heath ward, which covers Ravenswood, has shared his happiness that one of the empty units at Edith Cook Way will be taken over by the major American fast food chain.

Taco Bell will take over the former Frankie & Benny's, with the building currently undergoing work to change the restaurant into a drive-thru restaurant.

The unit and its neighbour, the former Chiquito, have both been empty for more than a year - but following a planning application being submitted by Taco Bell UK, one of them is set to be used.

Mr Muhith said: "It’s fantastic to see one of the vacant units in Edith Cook Way being filled by Taco Bell.

"After being empty for over a year, bringing new life to this space is a positive move for Ravenswood, and Ipswich.

"Not only will it generate jobs, but it will also encourage greater footfall, benefiting the wider community and existing businesses.

"A growing range of dining options can only enhance Ravenswood as a destination for residents and visitors alike."

The old Chiquito closed at about the same time as Frankie & Benny's last year, with Mr Muhith believing that it also represents a "great opportunity for further investment".

He added: "Ideally, I would like to see another major franchise restaurant take that space, but something new to Ipswich, something that can generate real excitement and offer a unique dining experience.

"A healthier option could also appeal to those looking for something different.

"The remaining unit is well-positioned for success, and with the right investment, it could help to further establish Ravenswood, and Ipswich as a vibrant hub for dining and leisure."

Residents in the area have previously suggested that McDonald's would be better suited to move into this unit rather than where it currently is across the road, but Mr Muhith believes it should remain where it is.
