An Ipswich TV star has completed a five-day walk around a world-famous South American landmark with double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes.

Fay Greaves, who starred in the first season of the BBC One show The Traitors, trekked for five days through the Peruvian mountains up to Machu Picchu, raising money for charities that she supports and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

"I am lost for words," she said. "It was gruelling, it was challenging, we cried, we laughed, we crawled, it was incredible."

"The most challenging day was day two, the first point was up from the camp was Chilipahua, which was 3750m at the peak.

"Our highest peak overall though was 4450m, which was breathtaking, literally.

"But day two was the most challenging by far.

Ms Greaves was raising money a variety of charities around the region including the NSPCC, Ripple, Dallaglio Rugby Works and Elements CIC, with a goal set of £12,000. She was sponsored by local organisations.

Some of the funds are being donated to the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

Ms Greaves said Dame Kelly was a brilliant person to do the challenge alongside: "For motivation and spurring us on, you wouldn't want anyone else.

Thanking her sponsors, Ms Greaves, who grew up in Ipswich but now lives near Bury St Edmunds, said: "There are so many people who got me on my way, I wanted to say a massive thank you to them.

"A huge thank you to Fuelsell, Pammy Styles, John Keeble, Gilmour piper, Hall Farm, Starboxxpr, DropGym and Katie Chaplin, I wouldn't have got there without them."
