Proposals to build a new padel court in a village near Ipswich have been submitted to the council.
Based on the sports ground, applicant Copdock and Washbrook Tennis Club has submitted plans to Babergh District Council to convert one of its tennis courts.
Padel is one of the fastest-growing racket sports in recent years, being a variation of tennis and squash.
However, there are only two courts in Ipswich where the sport can be played.
The developer wants to provide a venue for the growing sport and reuse one for its tennis court for padel, while the other will be used to play tennis.
If approved, the club plans to keep the court open Monday to Friday from 8am to 10pm, while the weekend closing time will be 6pm.
However, the environment protection officer at Babergh has said that concerns over noise and lighting at padel courts have been raised throughout the country.
Hence, the officer said that the council would need more information before it could approve the development.
Copdock and Washbrook Parish Council will also be discussing this development during its meeting next Tuesday.
