Police are hopeful an Ipswich teenager will "change his ways" while serving a sentence for drug offences.

Gabriel Szypulski, of Fulham Way in the town, was first arrested in May after officers witnessed a suspected drugs exchange.

Officers found a quantity of drugs and £12,000 in cash in subsequent searches.

Szypulski was sentenced after pleading guilty for being concerned in class A and class B drugs, and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.

He was given a nine-month suspended sentence and ordered to pay £13,500.

The 18-year-old was arrested for a second time in July with evidence suggesting he was involved in drug dealing.

He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class B drugs and was sentenced to three months in a young offenders institution and ordered to serve the previously suspended nine-month sentence.

He was also ordered to forfeit £590 in cash that was discovered by police during searches.

Following the sentencing, PC Matthew Milton said: "Despite being given a second opportunity, Szypulski returned to trying to profit from drug dealing.

"Hopefully he will be able to change his ways whole serving his custodial sentence and improve his life.

"We know the damage these drugs cause to our communities, to the individuals affected by them and the damage suffered by all caught up in the resulting criminality.

"Hopefully this shows that we do not forget. If you continue in your criminal enterprises we will investigate, we will arrest, and we will seek charges."
