A comedian has added an extra date in Ipswich due to high demand for his upcoming tour.

Tickets for Ricky Gervais: Mortality at Ipswich Regent Theatre in St Helen's Street went on sale at 10am on Friday.

The Office and Afterlife creator was originally only meant to have one performance in the town on Tuesday, January 14.

However an extra performance has been added on Wednesday, January 15.

A spokesman for Ipswich Regent Theatre said: "Due to exceptionally high demand, a second date has been added."

Mr Gervais will also be performing at other venues in Birmingham, Oxford, Newcastle, Manchester, Brighton, Nottingham, Liverpool, Cardiff as part of the 2025 tour.

Speaking about Mortality, the comedian and actor said: “We’re all gonna die. May as well have a laugh about it. Mortality looks at the absurdities of life. And death. Bring it on.”

Tickets for both shows at Ipswich Regent Theatre have sold out with the theatre stating Twickets is the only valid site for purchasing re-sale tickets.

A spokesman said: "We’re sorry for any disappointment for those who missed out on tickets. Demand has been exceptionally high, and the number of people looking to secure tickets has been much higher than the number of seats in the venue.

"We'll be investigating unauthorised re-selling in-line with the T&Cs for this event, and cancelling any identifiable tickets being re-sold through an unauthorised site. Please don't buy tickets from these sites, as the tickets will not be valid and you'll be denied entry.

"Twickets is the only valid re-sale platform for tickets bought through the venue."
