An Ipswich man who entered the UK illegally in breach of a deportation order has been jailed for 14 months.

Sentencing Valeriu Negara, Judge Emma Peters said he had repeatedly tried to enter the UK illegally despite “being repeatedly told that he wasn’t welcome”.

“The UK has said ‘no’ to you and will say ‘no’ to you if you try again. Don’t try to come back again,” said the judge.

Negara, 27, of Jeffries Road, Ipswich, admitted entering the UK in breach of a deportation order on or before July 26.

Ipswich Crown Court heard on Thursday that although Negara gave police a different name when he was arrested in July his true identity was revealed by a roadside fingerprint check.

It was then discovered he’d been deported from the UK in 2021 following a conviction for wounding in 2020.

He’d unsuccessfully tried to return to the UK through Harwich in January 2023 and had then unsuccessfully tried again the next day in Scotland.

He had then gained entry to the UK earlier this year using his wife’s name.
