Plans have been submitted to convert commercial units on the first and second floor of a Waterfront building.

Ipswich Borough Council has received the plans, which would see four flats created out of commercial units in The Winerack on Ipswich Waterfront.

Three of the flats would be created in the southeast corner of The Winerack, adding to the high-rise residential block that already exists.

The other will be in the northwest corner of The Winerack.

This one flat will be a three-bedroom, two of which ensuite, a study and an open plan kitchen, living and dining area.

The three which would be built in the southeast corner, would all be two-bedroom and will also have an open plan kitchen, living and dining area.

In the plans, the developers said that "the loss of employment is acknowledged" in turning commercial units into residential, but due to how long the units have been empty, they said that "there would be far more benefits by bringing high quality accommodation to the edge of the town centre" and it would "enhance the local thoroughfare."
