Students from a village near Ipswich have taken home top tips on how to look after their health.

The Federation of Bentley Church of England and Copdock Community Primary Schools brought their pupils to the Copdock Village Hall on Friday, September 20.

They wanted to talk to the children about how choices can impact on people's health, both physically and mentally.

Deputy headteacher at Copdock Community Primary School Heidi Cross explained that this is a part of the school's curriculum to focus on activities that help students make positive choices throughout their lives.

She said: "Our curriculum regularly promotes healthy living by teaching the children how to use strategies to ensure a healthy mind and body.

"We hope the important knowledge they have learned today will support them to make positive choices for themselves well into their future."

The pupils then took part in a 'Ready, Steady, Cook' style event, where they packed healthy lunches for themselves.

They explored the benefits of monitoring their sugar intake as part of their diet and dental hygiene.

A series of reduced sugar recipes and treats were given to the pupils to take home with them at the end of the day.

The day concluded with a gathering of parents and friends at the school's annual Macmillan fundraiser.

Bentley and Copdock Primary Schools have actively tried to involve their pupils with the community, and have previously had students help out at The Brook Inn, which is a community pub in the village.
