A top university guide has bumped the University of Suffolk down in its yearly rankings for 2025.

The Times have released its Good University Guide for 2025, which is considered the definitive guide to the country's universities.

The guide is created based on a range of factors including graduate employment and teaching quality.

The University of Suffolk has not cracked the top 100 in recent years and in the 2025 guide slid into the bottom 10, ranking 124 out of 131.

In 2023 The Times ranked the university 115 out of 131 institution and a year later at 106.

Just a few years ago, in 2021, the university was ranked second from last.

The university largely operates in Ipswich on the waterfront, but also runs courses in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

Helen Davies, editor of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, said:  “The best universities — whether they were founded in the 15th century or 2005 — are local and global powerhouses of intellectual thought and creativity, from the arts to science, that can power economic regeneration and lead the way to a better life. But what and where to study — and how to pay for it — has never been tougher.

“This year we have tweaked our methodology to keep up with contemporary concerns around climate change and careers and have added in a sustainability metric, teaming up with People & Planet, and boosted the weighting of graduate prospects.

“The higher education sector is facing unprecedented challenges from debates on free speech to financial stability, but it is important to remember the force for good that going to university can be. "

In East Anglia, Cambridge University ranked fourth nationally, followed by the University of East Anglia in 33rd.

University of Essex was placed 46th in The Times list and Norwich University of the Arts 81st.

Anglia Ruskin University ranked 130.
