Three businesses are set to open their doors within metres of each other on one street over the coming months.

Dogs Head Street is set to become a hub for cafes and restaurants, as a trio of planning applications have been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council.

One application has been approved to turn a former hairdressers into a restaurant, with two more plans for businesses inside a former charity shop and for signage at the front of a former betting shop being considered.

Signage has been seen for Wake Up Coffee which is set to open in the former Betfred, opposite The Plough.

Further down the street, on the opposite side of the road in the former Emmaus Suffolk homeware store, plans have been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council to change the shop front and install extraction vents to the rear of the building.

It is not known what this new premises will serve.

A little further along, on the corner of Dogs Head Street and Lower Brook Street, in the former Lewis Hair Salon.

The business moved to Kesgrave last year after 20 years in Dogs Head Street, and its former premises will now become a restaurant following planning approval.

Floor plans indicate that there will be eight tables with seating for 24 people, and the new restaurant will be open between 9am and 11pm everyday bar Sunday, when they will close at 8pm.

Five people are set to be employed, with three full time staff and four part time staff.

A window towards the back of the premises is also set to be replaced with a fire escape door for the kitchen staff.

The new eateries will join other food places along the street including Kaspa's Desserts, The Plough and Best Kebab Centre.
