The search is on to find a four-year-old "romantic" greyhound called Romeo a new home after the death of his previous owner.

Romeo has lived in kennels after his time as a racing dog and is currently being looked after by the team at the Blue Cross rehoming centre on Bourne Hill in Wherstead.

A spokeswoman at the Blue Cross said he is now ready to leave his old life behind and venture into a new life.

She added: "He is a real lover, greeting everyone he meets with a lean-in cuddle.

"This romantic boy is looking for a life of exploration filled with love, kisses and hugs.

"Romeo has lived his life mainly in kennels being an ex-racer but it is time to leave that behind and venture onto his next mission. A mission of love. He loves being indoors with all the home comforts.

"Romeo does need a garden to stretch those legs and run free as he loves to keep his muscles in tip-top condition."
