Two teenage boys have been arrested after police received reports of people being seen with knives near an Ipswich college.
Emergency services were called to an incident at Suffolk New College, in Rope Walk, at about 2.20pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said it was reported that two men were seen outside the college.
They were reportedly both in possession of a knife before they were seen leaving the area.
A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were both arrested on Thursday on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
The pair were taken to Martlesham police investigation centre for questioning.
They have both since been released on bail with conditions to return to police on November 15.
Principal and chief executive of the college Alan Pease said that at no stage did anyone enter the college.
Mr Pease also praised the police for their response to the incident and moved to reassure parents that safety for students at the college was a priority.
He added: "Staff were made aware of an incident that was outside of college premises.
"Education providers prepare for incidents of this nature, so safeguarding action to protect staff and students immediately commenced and the police were called to the scene.
"On arriving, the police quickly established that no one had been injured and the situation was resolved.
"We would like to thank the police for their help and support.
"We would like to reassure students, staff, parents, guardians and the community that safeguarding is our main priority and we will continue to provide high levels of safety in and around college premises at all times."
Anyone with any information regarding the incident at Suffolk New College is being asked to contact Suffolk police, quoting the crime reference number 37/51617/24.
