A dreamland-themed playground has been announced for an Ipswich play park.

Sherrington Road recreation ground is next in line for a refurbishment after Stone Lodge Park's new play area opened this week.

The park in Castle Hill is not the first to get upgraded - Whitehouse Park reopened in July after being closed for refurbishments.

Lucy Trenchard, portfolio holder for parks at Ipswich Borough Council, said: "I am very excited to see the commencement of the upgrades at Sherrington Road Recreation Ground.

“Themed on books and storytelling, the upgraded play area will include 40 play features and is the seventh play area to be improved as part of Ipswich Borough Council’s Play Area Strategy 2022-27.

“Incorporating equipment for children of all ages, there will be something for everyone to enjoy, with work planned to be completed this Autumn.

“The council's parks team is currently in the planning process to determine the next sites to be upgraded."

The project was supported by Councillors Ian Fisher and Sam Murray who called the improvement works the "upgrade it deserves".
