These Suffolk bars and pubs have recently reopened following a refurbishment, with some also under new management or ownership.
1) The Packhorse Inn
This newly revamped Packhorse Inn at Moulton, near Newmarket, was recently named among the best-revitalised pubs in the UK in 2024.
Its £1.5m renovation includes a "significant" kitchen extension, a new flint and timber barn extension with views over the village green and its original entrance into the bar has been restored.
The pub also serves a range of food and drink including Suffolk chicken supreme, grilled bass, fennel and potato stew and sun-blushed and tomato Gnocchi.
2) Anchor Inn
Nestled just a few hundred yards from the River Stour in the heart of Constable County, close to the Essex border, the Anchor Inn in Stratford St Mary was refurbished after receiving an investment of £750,000.
It now has a new garden bar, a large conservatory dining area, terracing and log burners, as well as new furniture and bathrooms.
Owner Ray Anderson said: "We are so pleased with what we have managed to do.
3) The Red Lion
The Red Lion in Martlesham underwent a six-figure renovation and was unveiled by Ipswich Town Football Club heroes Terry Butcher and Russell Osman in March.
Internally, changes have been made, including the bar being opened up, the removal of some carpets, and putting in hardwood floors to cater more for dogs.
Externally a lot of work has also been done, with the courtyard at the front of the building doubling in size.
The pub also received a five-star review by the East Anglian Daily Times in April for its "friendly and speedy service", "impeccable food" and "clean and spacious dining area".
4) The Station Hotel
The Station Hotel in Ipswich unveiled its new £200,000 garden ahead of Town's Premier League season opener.
The renovation included adding a basement bar, new downstairs beer taps, new matchday screens and an upgraded garden.
The pub is open from 8am to 11pm every day except Saturdays and Sundays when they close at 10pm.
5) The Grain Shed
Less of a typical bar and more of a wildcard the Grain Shed at the Pigs in Blankets campsite near Southwold is a stylish addition to the site.
The bar is open from 2pm to 10pm every day and will serve a range of local draught beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and snacks with indoor and outdoor seating.
While the bar is primarily open to campsite users, Pigs in Blankets says it is also open to passing trade and welcomes members of the public.
