Plans for a new three-bedroom home in Ipswich have been submitted to the council.

Proposals for a new family home were submitted in August, which suggested building the new home on land at the rear of a house in Belvedere Road, in the Rushmere area of Ipswich.

A design and access statement prepared Kesgrave-based Patrick Allen & Associates Architects states that the host property is situated on a “significantly larger plot than the surrounding properties, and so would be able to accommodate this new home".

The statement said: “The new dwelling provides for typical family accommodation including living room, hall, kitchen/dining room, family bathroom and 3 bedrooms. The principal rooms have been orientated to enjoy the private rear gardens.”

It continued: “Design cues have been taken from the surrounding properties resulting in the proposed dwelling relating harmoniously in scale, massing, and appearance to the site context.”

If accepted, the new home would be a two-storey house of “traditional appearance, masonry constriction under a tiled roof”.

It made reference to a similar application to create three new homes on land behind another house in Belvedere Road. Despite being rejected in 2022, an appeal decision earlier this year gave the build permission to go ahead.

Ipswich Borough Council sets an automatic eight-week target date for a decision on all applications it receives. It has given this application a date of October 22.
