Plans have been approved to convert empty office space above a shop in Ipswich town centre to four flats.
Ipswich Borough Council has approved plans for the flats above the new Holland & Barrett store opening in Tavern Street in Ipswich.
The unit, which used to be a Carphone Warehouse until four years ago, will remain a shop on the ground floor with the opening of the new health store for retailer Holland & Barrett.
Above this, on the first and second floors of the building, four flats will be created.
The unit previously had planning permission to be used as retail or office space and was used as such until April this year.
The first floor will have two one-bedroom flats, while the second floor would have one one-bedroom flat and a two-bedroom flat suitable for three people.
Some conditions have been stated prior to the units being occupied including the creation of safe refuse and cycle storage and details of the noise mitigation measures need to be submitted and approved.
