A former American candy store has applied to sell alcohol until late every day.

American and Mexican Candy opened on Orwell Place in November last year, but has since seen a change in its appearance.

The owner, Abdi Mishevan, is looking to further revamp the store and rebrand it as Eagle Corner, with the hope that it has an off-licence section.

Mr Mishevan has applied to Ipswich Borough Council, seeking permission to sell alcohol from 7am to 11pm every day.

The store is situated opposite The Spread Eagle, at the junction of Orwell Place and Upper Orwell Street.

In January, the candy store found itself needing to change its look from its bright pink exterior due to planning rules.

The borough council asked the store to change the "unacceptable" colour as it was in a Grade II listed building.

Since then the colour has been changed to a shade of teal, and the boards saying American and Mexican Candy Stores have been taken down.

Residents have till September 25 to make any representation to the council.
