A man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Ipswich has been released as the death is no longer being treated as suspicious, police said.

It follows the launching of a murder probe after the unexplained death of a woman in her 60s on Sunday evening which was initially thought by police to be suspicious.

Officers were called just before 9.30pm on Sunday by a concerned member of the public to Mottram Close, close to Belmont Road in the south-west of the town.

On arrival at the property officers discovered a woman aged in her 60s deceased inside.

A Home Office post-mortem examination took place on Monday and concluded that the woman’s death was from natural causes.

The police cordon near the address has now been lifted.

The man aged in his 40s who was arrested in connection with the incident will face no further action.

A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
