Perfect weather and a line-up of hundreds of perfectly-preserved cars have helped to deliver a huge boost to Cancer Support Suffolk.

The classic and sports cars festival at the Suffolk Food Hall in Wherstead on Bank Holiday Monday brought thousands of visitors to the site - with 240 of the best-kept cars in the region on display and even the chance to win a classic Jaguar limousine.

The event featured vehicles from before the war to some from modern times. Among those attracting the most attention were supercars like Ferraris, Aston Martins and Rolls-Royces.

But there were also pristine examples of cars that were familiar sites on the road for many drivers in decades gone by - a Mark III Ford Capri, a convertible Vauxhall Cavalier and even a souped-up Hillman Imp!

Of course when it comes to British sports Grand Tourers, nothing beats the Triumph Stag - and there was a whole rut on display thanks to the Stag Owners' Club supporting the event!

The show was organised by the Suffolk Food Hall and Cancer Support Suffolk with support from other organisations.

CSS chief executive Mark Murphy couldn't believe how many people had turned up - and couldn't be kept out of his own Beach Buggy that he drove to the site and was attracting lots of approving looks.

He said: "This is fabulous. A lot of people have put a huge amount of effort into this - and it is great to see so many people here.

"I haven't really got a clear idea of how many people are around here - but it's certainly in the thousands. It is a great news for the charity."

Among the attractions for some people was the chance to win a 1990 Jaguar XJ6 in a raffle organised by show sponsors Bridge Classic Cars from Pettistree, near Wickham Market in east Suffolk.
