Designs have been released on what a new potential development could look like in Ipswich - equipped with balconies, foliage and access to a river walk.

Architects' designs have been released showing what two buildings housing 111 flats could look like if they were to be built near the town's railway station.

Ipswich Borough Council received plans submitted by Kream Properties, alongside designs by UV Architecture, for three separate blocks of flats that are described as "high quality and contemporary".

The major development would make use of vacant land on the corner of Ranelagh Road and Princes Street Bridge, opposite Ipswich station.

The 111 flats would be a mixture of one and two-bed flats, with two commercial units built as part of the development.

Parking would also be provided and a walkway to the River Gipping walk would also be created behind one of the block of flats.

The designs show that the modern block of flats would benefit from balconies overlooking the river, parking spaces both on the ground floor underneath the buildings and outside spaces, and solar panels around the roof and sides of the buildings.

The submitted documents state: "The proposal will facilitate significant investment in internal and external landscaping and public realm enhancements that will allow the site to contribute positively to the visual character and appearance of the railway station, Princes Street corridor, wider Portman Quarter and town centre."

They also state that the scheme will "provide much needed new housing for the local community whilst enabling an efficient, effective use of the site".
