An Ipswich man has been banned from driving for a year after he was caught behind the wheel of a car with no insurance in Colchester.
Ankamma Rao Kosana, of Pooleys Yard in Ipswich, was stopped by officers while he was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Polo in the early hours of September 12, 2022.
The incident happened in Mersea Road in the north Essex city, a court listing confirmed.
The 26-year-old was subsequently charged with driving without insurance after being stopped.
Kosana was convicted of the offence when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
He was handed a fine of £660 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £264 and costs of £110.
This meant the total Kosana was told to pay out by magistrates at the court was £1,034.
Kosana was also banned from holding a driving licence for a period of 12 months.
The disqualification was imposed due to "repeat offending" from the defendant, a court listing said.
